Social media Vs. TV News
In the modern day of technology, our mobile phones can do so much more then watching funny cat videos on the internet. With social media we can report events without evening knowing it. On popular app such as Facebook or Twitter, people can report events while it happening just by tweeting a message or a photo.
Social media is huge, according to Our World in Data "there are 7.7 billion people in the world, with at least 3.5 billion of us online. This means social media platforms are used by one-in-three people in the world, and more than two-thirds of all internet users." The amount of people that use the news is far less with around 3 million people. That is no where near the amount of people that use social media. On Facebook and tweeter, you can find more news scores that or more creditable then to say fox news or CNN. For big news sources like Fox News and CNN, they only care about being first, which leads to fake reports and false information.
Not all social media is good. Instead of media coming in slowly by professional, it can be produced by amateurs at a very quick rate. That how most people get there information.
Social media has change the way we consume information. It fast, and can be creditable then Big News Sources. Social media has lots of bad things about it, like ads that pop up every five minutes or people trying to scam other, but social media does have lots of thing too.

Ben, I like the images you chose for this blog post, they match your theme and fonts well and draw the readers attention. I think that it's so cool how much our phones have evolved and how quickly we can spread information using social media! Do you see any problems with how quickly information can spread online? Is it always accurate? What are some good things that result in quick spread of news on social media? Why are ads bad?
ReplyDeleteHi Ben, the data you have about the number of social media users is good, but you make the argument about the possible problems of news generated by social media users. This point could be developed a lot more specifically. Also, be sure to proofread carefully before you post.
ReplyDeleteHi Ben, I like the data you've shown in your post. Showing just how many people have access to social media. I also like the way you have displayed your blog, with the Theme and pictures.
ReplyDeleteBen, I liked the data that you used. How much do you think right vs. left media can swing our opinions on issues in the world. It is very interesting to think about how we are able to basically control what we want to hear sometimes
ReplyDeleteI liked the fact that you provided some significant data about social media usage. You also said that not all social media [news] is good because it is produced by amateurs. What do you think makes this such a hazard for people who get news off of social media?
