Storm Chasing

What Technology or Tactics do Storm Chasers Use?

I started to follow the weather and big storms because of my first hurricane experiences. Hurricane Sand which hit the North East on November 1st, was the first time that I found hurricanes and big storms interesting.

NASA plays a huge part in identifying/digitally program hurricanes from computers. According to GPM "NASA’s role as a research agency is to bring new types of observational capabilities and analytical tools to learn about the fundamental processes that drive hurricanes and work to help incorporate that data into forecasts. NASA collaborates with its interagency partners so that the nation benefits from our respective capabilities." NASA has tools that can help analyze hurricanes. These programs can build simulating out of particles that are programmed in the system. From the same website "3-D models of the area northeast of Typhoon Dolphin's eye on May 16 created by data from NASA/JAXA's GPM core satellite shows heaviest rain over the open waters of the Pacific Ocean at a rate of over 65 mm (2.6 inches) per hour." These programs can create entire storms from head to toe and from the beginning to the end of the storm's life span. These models can also help scientists predict future hurricane systems.

Tornadoes are one of the most dangerous storms systems in the world. Most tornadoes accrue in the United States across a place called Tornado Alley, which spans from Texas, all the way up to North Dakota. Depending on the season one region will get more action due to the change in climates over the seasons. Most Tornadoes are Formed by rotating thunderstorms, called supercells. For scientists to study tornadoes they need Simulation and programs that can help them with research. According to the NSSL "researchers have created a computer model that simulates a tornado-producing thunderstorm in 3-D. We use this model to study what changes in the environment cause a thunderstorm to produce a tornado, and how the tornado and storm behaves as it encounters different weather conditions." These simulations are computer generated to help scientists study the system and help predict future storms in the same condition as the computer model.

Stop the Spread

How is Technology Helping Stop the spread

In today's climate we are still dealing with COVID-19, with cases still climbing to is day, we have made technology that helps stop the spread of the viruses while also keeping use distance and protecting us from each other.

According to the CDC, the total case of Covid-19 is around 20,732,404 and the total death is around 352,464 that's in the U.S. alone. In New Hampshire Two companies are teaming up, and using technology to tackle covid-19. NHBR stated that "Bluetooth-based solution for accurate contact tracing and includes a symptom checker to effectively track potential Covid-19 exposure while maintaining the privacy of users. …By integrating Wellbility with the pre-entry temperature reader, the app will provide key healthcare information to users at the individual and organization level. Temperature data collected from the OPTR will be saved on an individual user’s phone within the Wellbility app, which will aid in the early detection of COVID-19 symptom onset.".
From this app, it will limit or even stop the spread through touching other objects. If other companies around the world used this it would help just as much as masks do.

Masks have change dramatically around the world. They went from these thin flimsy pieces of fabric, to more protective face masks that cover more of the user's face and lowers the amount of air that passes through that fabric. companies have made double layer thick masks that are far more protective.

Restaurants have done a similar thing where their menus are online, then you can call in and order your food and wait outside from it to arrive. In other restaurants. They have tents outside to limit the amount of people inside the building. The tents provide more air to flow in and out.

At a local ski resort called Pats Peak, they're also trying to stop the spread of the virus, but still be open to the public. In order to ski at the peak, you have to wear a mask at all times. This also goes for other mountain other then Pats Peak or mountains in New Hampshire.

With these new technology that help prevent COVID spread and the vaccines that is on the way, The virus could dissipate in the coming months. wearing masks and staying social distance will be a big help to everyone.

Is Social Media Good or Bad

Social media Vs. TV News

In the modern day of technology, our mobile phones can do so much more then watching funny cat videos on the internet. With social media we can report events without evening knowing it. On popular app such as Facebook or Twitter, people can report events while it happening just by tweeting a message or a photo.

Social media is huge, according to Our World in Data "there are 7.7 billion people in the world, with at least 3.5 billion of us online. This means social media platforms are used by one-in-three people in the world, and more than two-thirds of all internet users." The amount of people that use the news is far less with around 3 million people. That is no where near the amount of people that use social media. On Facebook and tweeter, you can find more news scores that or more creditable then to say fox news or CNN. For big news sources like Fox News and CNN, they only care about being first, which leads to fake reports and false information.

Not all social media is good. Instead of media coming in slowly by professional, it can be produced by amateurs at a very quick rate. That how most people get there information.

Social media has change the way we consume information. It fast, and can be creditable then Big News Sources. Social media has lots of bad things about it, like ads that pop up every five minutes or people trying to scam other, but social media does have lots of thing too.

Future Technology

How far can we advances, and how far is too advances.

In the world we live in now, even though we are dealing with the pandemic of COVID-19 around the world. Can technology get to advances? Don't get me, some technology needs to get upgrades for safety like cars.

The future we are heading too, seem to be where cars can drive them selves, removing the purpose of people with jobs like Uber. More jobs can be lost where advances machines that can cut, analyst, predict, and work faster than people can. According to NHSTA
"A number of today’s new motor vehicles have technology that helps drivers avoid drifting into adjacent lanes or making unsafe lane changes, or that warns drivers of other vehicles behind them when they are backing up, or that brakes automatically if a vehicle ahead of them stops or slows suddenly, among other things." having high tech technology that is meant for saving a person life is a great thing; But, having technology that can have cars, drives them selves making people more lazy is not the best thing for people and other around them.

The Future we are heading to is a lazy one. People don't have to manually vacuum anymore because we have little robots that can clean for us. Soon or later we will have personal robots that could follow us everywhere doing basic task that we can do ourselves. Its alright for us to be were we are now. We don't need thing that have no purpose but to make people more lazy.
